Duo wanna hear ‘em? | Alexander and Tristesse
by Colne Life magazine
Alexander and Tristesse are a local acoustic duo who started making music together just eight months ago. Alex (of local band, Spacebats) met Tess (of Outcry Arts) last May and they hit it off instantly! Talented musician Alex plays several instruments including guitar, drums and piano and also sings falsetto, in addition to being a talented writer and Actor. Tess has a wealth of experience in music events, including two years managing The New York Stage at Burnley Blues Festival, as well as being a professional performer. Their shared skills enable them to perform as an eclectic mix of gender experimental vocals and stunning guitar riffs, presenting a range of popular songs blended and remarried as new and interesting takes on the originals. The duo decided to combine skills to give the gift of music to help local causes and raise money for charity. Their first gig as a duo was in June 2016, when they performed together for the ‘Save the Empire’ cause in Burnley, but this year the pair are throwing themselves into the fire on another level.
A highlight on their calendar will be Pendle Power fest (28th May), of which Tess is the event’s presenter. The pair will be appearing on Ribble FM on 11th March at 11am to sing and discuss Powerfest; the focus of which this year is to raise money to buy toys for children in local hospitals. The toys will be delivered by a convoy of Powerfest vehicles later in the year and Alex and Tess will be among the volunteers participating. Next there is the Marie Curie Swimathon on April 11th, which will see Alex and Tess swim 200 lengths with their friend, James Stovold. All proceeds will go to Marie Curie. Known as ‘Mighty Aqua Warriors’, the team are hoping to raise at least £1,000.
Efforts will peak in July with two day long gigs in Bonnie Colne; one at The Tapsters Promise on 2nd July for Acoustic artists and one at The Duke of Lancaster on 9th July for bands. All proceeds from the events will go To Pendleside Hospice, in memory of Tess’s friend Brian, who sadly lost his fight to Cancer last December. The two days will see over 14 different artists perform to raise money for the cause and will be organised and hosted by Tess, with performances from Alex and herself.
