Plans for Pendle’s parkrun pick up pace

Pendle’s plans to bring a ‘parkrun’ to Colne are gathering pace now more local people have come together to help make it happen.

Pendle Council is working with Lancashire County Council and local volunteers to bring a regular weekly, organised run to Alkincoats Park and Holt House playing fields.

‘parkrun’ is an international movement that organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world.

It is aimed at people of all ability levels – from those taking their first steps in running to budding Olympians.

Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, who represents parks and recreation in Pendle, said: “Throughout the UK there are over 200 parkrun events every Saturday morning. It would be wonderful for Colne to host one of them.”

If you’d like to get involved at this early stage of the project and help bring parkrun to Pendle, then please come along if you can. For more information about Pendle’s parkrun call Kieron on (01282) 661587 or kieron.roberts@pendle.gov.uk.
